Notes "W. H. Kent, 147 Oxford Street" William Hardy Kent (1819-1907) was born in London. His family originally came from America, where Kent moved back to and became Captain in the Military. In 1848 he opened his first daguerreotype studio in New York. He came back to London in 1854, where he operated the studio on 147 Oxford Street (1854-1864). He continued to make photos until he retired in 1899. He had branches in Brighton, Hastings, Newcastle and Harrogate. |
